Response to the devastating earthquake in Colombia
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, centered near San José del Palmar and was felt across the country. At least 111 people were killed, with the highest toll in Risaralda province, where MADRE partners work extensively.
Buildings have collapsed in Cali, Pereira, and Manizales, and search-and-rescue efforts are underway. One longtime MADRE partner reports that her home was severely damaged and is now uninhabitable, forcing her to relocate.
MADRE is moving money quickly and directly, without unnecessary barriers, straight to the people already doing the work and impacted the most. Please rush your support now so that we can respond together, as quickly as possible.
