Yanar’s Fund exists to protect and stabilize the Organization of Women’s Freedom in Iraq (OWFI) and feminist organizing in the region during periods of targeted violence and heightened political risk.
Tragically, Yanar Mohammed was assassinated in Baghdad on March 2, 2026 in what appears to be a targeted militia attack. Yanar’s Fund was created to honor her legacy and is designed to ensure that interconnected feminist institutions remain operational, coordinated, and secure when destabilizing events threaten movement infrastructure.
